Even if the available supplies were limited to dried beans, as was often the case, he would have figured out how to make a tasty meal! Many worked in a local factory making bullet cartridges to supply the troops. Unfortunately, a tragedy known as the Allegheny Arsenal Explosion killed almost 80 women on the Northern Home Front. The pattern includes easy directions for making the 3” star blocks.
