Battery Point is located at Crescent City, Northern California. In May of 1855, Congress appropriated $15,000 for the construction of a lighthouse on the tiny islet, which is connected to Battery Point by an isthmus at low tide. The light was lit December 10, 1856. It is a Cape Cod style lighthouse, with the tower located in the center of the structure. It’s Fresnel lens light was turned off in 1965, replaced by a modern beacon, until 1982 when it was again lit as a private navigation aid.
